We went to Canada today. Franklin D Roosevelt's summer home on Campobello Island on New Brunswick was about 100 mile drive from Bar Harbor so we did a day trip. There is an international peace park there with many trails, picnic areas, etc. We toured the "cottage" (red house in pictures) where the family spent their summers. His parents cottage was next door but was torn down several years ago and there is another cottage (the white one) on the property but it was closed for tours today. The dock and beach area can be seen from the cottage. The flowers were beautiful. We also drove around the island, saw the lighthouse and had lunch at a family run restaurant. The bridge is the border between Maine and Canada; security checks coming and going.
